We at Newtongrange Star will be working with and supporting a very special little boy and his family in their journey with his heart felt battle with cancer. We will wear #TeamLyle on our training t-shirts this season and will look to help in anyway we can!
Lyle Cornet is a gorgeous Wee boy who turned 2 years old in April. At 3 months old Lyle was diagnosed with a double brain tumour. His mummy and daddy have been told that Lyles tumours cannot be operated on and won't ever receive radiotherapy as it is not an option.
Lyle has already spent the majority of his life so far in hospital. In February 2016, his parents received the worst news possible, that Lyle was life limited.
Only very recently did lyle need to have 9 pieces of his tumours taken for biopsy. What is an every day procedure for the surgeons, was a massive risk for lyle. His vision is extremely impaired and his mobility restricted. Results are still pending as to how to treat lyles tumours next or if it can be treated. Lyle has already in his young life time received 15 months of chemotherapy but this has stopped for the time being until his results are back. Although the chemotherapy and any planned treatments to lyles tumours keep them stable, Lyle's parents have been told they could erupt at any time.
The reason why we are needing to raise money is to adapt Lyle's home to make it suitable for his needs.
Lyle's brave mummy, Lyndsey Cornet is currently unable to work as she is caring for Lyle 24 hours a day, aswell as being mum to lyles older brother Chris aged 4 who has also had time he misfortune of having a tumour. Luckily Chris's was benign although he is still under the care of the sick kids and has ongoing regular tests.
For Lyle to continue living at home, it is essential that the necessary adaptions be made to his house. Medical professionals have said he requires a bedroom downstairs, a wetroom and additional space for carers/medical staff/his equipment.
It is vital that we raise these funds as soon as possible so that building works can commence and Lyle can continue to live at home making memories, with his brother Chris, and his mummy and daddy.
No family should have to see their child going through this but unfortunately it happens and it could happen to any one of us..
The Cornet family do not know what is round the corner..
Please please please help support Lyle by donating anything you can, every little pound will help us to reach our target of £60,000.. It's going to be hard but if we all pull together I know we can and we will do this.
